DOE Biological and Environmental Research Advisory Committee Participation

Rahul Ramachandran (ST1) was a contributing participant in the subcommittee of the Biological and Environmental Research (BER) Advisory Committee (BERAC), facilitated by the Department of Energy (DOE). His insightful involvement guided the roadmap for future data management and usability within the BER program. Focused discussions in the subcommittee revolved around data infrastructure enhancements to bolster model-experiment feedback mechanisms. The subcommittee also addressed strategies to ease data synthesis and analysis for multidisciplinary research, paving the way for advanced statistical methods, including machine learning and artificial intelligence applications.

Rahul Ramachandran also lent his expertise to the NASA EPSCoR program by acting as a technical monitor for a project led by the University of Delaware. The project's focus is on establishing a competitive and sustainable Delaware Remote Sensing Big Data Center, with a key emphasis on innovative coastal and environmental change research and workforce development. Ramachandran carried out an annual evaluation of the project and wrote the technical report for the EPSCoR Program.
