Paper Accepted for Publication in IEEE Cloud Proceedings for Large Scale Data Transfer Study with ESA

A team from NASA’s Interagency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) led by Brian Freitag (ST11) collaborated with the European Space Agency (ESA) on the development of a software architecture to support data transfer at the petabyte scale. The successful implementation and exceptional performance of the software (~6PB transferred in 1 month) was highlighted in a paper submitted to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Cloud 2023 conference on cloud computing. After peer review, the paper was accepted for publication in the conference proceedings and an oral presentation was granted for increased exposure to the IEEE community. The paper publication and presentation at IEEE Cloud is another achievement for the team and further demonstrates a successful and fruitful collaboration with ESA to advance partnerships in Earth science between NASA and ESA.
