Earth Science Technology Office Visits Marshall

NASA’s Earth Science Technology Office (ESTO) recently visited MSFC to discuss development of the CubeSpark concept for obtaining 3-D maps of lightning using a constellation of small satellites. The visit was hosted at the National Space Science and Technology Center (NSSTC) by Patrick Gatlin (ST11), who is PI of the CubeSpark concept demonstration project for ESTO’s Instrument Incubator Program. The visit included a presentation of the new bispectral lightning imager (CLIDE) being designed at Marshall for CubeSpark and a presentation by CLIDE’s Lead Systems Engineer, Jeff Apple (ES11), on ES’s capabilities designing and building science payloads.
