The Analysis and Review of the Common Metadata Repository (ARC) team within IMPACT recently completed and delivered metadata quality assessment reports to the Atmospheric Science Data Center (ASDC). These reports identified opportunities for improving ASDC metadata to enhance the discovery, accessibility, and use of ASDC’s Earth observation data products. Using a combination of automated and manual methods, the ARC team reviewed the metadata for 880 data products resulting in 21,069 individual findings. Of these, 5,322 were flagged as high priority, 7,031 as medium priority, and 8,805 as low priority for consideration. ARC will continue to support ASDC and monitor changes as the data center addresses these findings.
