SERVIR Activities Highlighted During Regional Exchanges of the Global Forest Observations Initiative

Representatives of the SERVIR network presented during two of the three regional information exchanges recently organized by the Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI), a flagship activity of the intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO). On January 30, Foster Mensah, the Executive Director of the Ghana-based Centre for Remote Sensing and Geospatial Information Services (CERSGIS) presented on SERVIR West Africa’s land cover related activities during the Africa regional exchange. On February 6, Emil Cherrington of the SERVIR Science Coordination Office delivered a complementary presentation on SERVIR’s forest cover monitoring services and proto services in Amazonia and Central America in the GFOI’s exchange for Latin America and the Caribbean. In total, roughly a hundred and fifty participants from across GFOI’s network attended both events.
