Launch of Virtual Earth Information Center (Earth.gov) and U.S. Greenhouse Gas Center

At the 28th annual United Nations Climate Conference (COP28), the Administrators of NASA and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) introduced the Earth Information Center and the U.S. GHG Center system. These systems, developed by the IMPACT (ST11) team in collaboration with EPA, NOAA, and NIST, as well as scientists from NASA, are designed to offer comprehensive environmental information. Utilizing the open-source Visualization, Exploration, and Data Analysis (VEDA) platform, these systems provide curated datasets and powerful tools for visualization, processing, and analysis of environmental data.

Earth Science Branch team members (Deborah Smith, Brian Freitag, and Manil Maskey) attended the U.S. GHG Center Stakeholder Forum in Washington, DC.  Smith and Freitag demonstrated the IMPACT-developed US GHG Center System to a diverse audience, including officials from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), representatives from various US agencies, international collaborators, and private sector leaders. The demonstration received overwhelmingly positive initial feedback.
