SERVIR Presents Overview and Highlights of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Activities in Bhutan for Develop Bhutan Closeout Event

As part of the 2023 NASA DEVELOP Bhutan Closeout held 8/10/23 in Washington, DC, Tony Kim, SERVIR Science Coordination Office (SCO) Project Manager, provided highlights of a May 2023 visit to Bhutan by SERVIR team members. Timothy Mayer, SERVIR Hindu Kush Himalaya Regional Science Coordination Lead and Aparna Phalke, SERVIR SCO Agriculture and Food Security Thematic Lead, provided a NASA SERVIR Bhutan Service Overview during the event, which opened with a Bhutan STEM Engagement Overview given by Nancy Searby, NASA Capacity Building Program Manager. NASA DEVELOP participants from the Kingdom of Bhutan provided presentations about their projects, which were conducted as part of an Interagency Agreement between NASA and the US Department of State to support STEM opportunities in the country. SERVIR has provided lead science advising for six Bhutan projects with NASA DEVELOP. To achieve this, SERVIR also collaborated with Applied Remote Sensing Training (ARSET) and Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE) programs, under the multi-year effort Advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math in Bhutan through Increased Earth Observation Capacity.
