Satellite Needs Working Group (SNWG) 2022 Assessment Presented to Office of Management and Budget

On 6/1/23, NASA wrapped up an eight-month assessment of 115 high-priority Federal civilian satellite Earth observation data needs submitted through the 2022 SNWG survey. The assessment was managed by the SNWG Management Office at IMPACT and was carried out by 101 scientists across NASA, NOAA, and USGS. On 7/26/23, Gerald Bawden, NASA’s SNWG principal, presented outcomes from the 2022 assessment to OMB, including six new proposed science activities that NASA could implement to help meet agency needs. The presentation also included updates on activities from past SNWG cycles that are currently being implemented by NASA. Essence Raphael, Jenny Wood, Pontus Olofsson, and Katrina Virts contributed significantly to preparing NASA’s presentation.
