Completion of Historical Processing of Harmonized LandSat and Sentinel-2 (HLS) S30 Data Product

The NASA Interagency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) recently completed the historical processing of the Sentinel-2 component of HLS data (HLSS30) spanning nearly five years. The HLSS30 data product is now available from November 2015 to the present day. The data was previously only available from September 2020 onwards and the data sensed prior to this date needed to be acquired from the European Space Agency (ESA). This is the final step towards the completion of the HLS archive and comes at the heels of successful large-scale Sentinel-2 data transfer between NASA and ESA. This expands the HLS archive by ~2.5 PB, bringing the archive volume to nearly 5 PB. The newly added HLSS30 data product greatly benefits the HLS user community in time-series analysis and land surface monitoring applications. This success also highlights the strong partnership between NASA and ESA in disseminating analysis-ready products to the scientific community.
