Visualization, Exploration, and Data Analysis (VEDA) Team Presents in Atmosphere Observing System (AOS) Applications Seminar Series

On 5/25/23 Brian Freitag (ST11) gave a presentation titled “The VEDA Platform: Lowering the Barrier to Entry for Earth Science Applications” as part of the AOS applications seminar series. The AOS mission addresses two key elements of the Earth System Observatory (ESO) - aerosols and clouds, convection, and precipitation - and their role in climate change. The presentation included a high-level overview of the suite of services made available through the VEDA platform and a live demonstration of the platform’s capabilities to support AOS applications teams. More than 100 people attended the seminar and participants were engaged within the chat asking about how to use the platform and how to get involved with the project. Most notable was the ability for AOS application teams to utilize VEDA’s collaborative analytics environment for collaborative algorithm development and cloud-based product generation. Presenting as part of this seminar series is the first step in collaborating with AOS applications team and enabling them to achieve their science goals through services provided by the VEDA platform.
