Updated Stakeholder Lists Sent to Satellite Needs Working Group (SNWG) Solution Implementation Teams

Commercial data access and products derived from commercial data would help meet many satellite needs submitted by Federal civilian agencies to the 2022 SNWG survey. The 2022 SNWG assessment wrapped up on 6/1/23, when NASA returned 115 reports to OMB/OSTP/USGEO and the SNWG co-chairs, one report per survey that was analyzed. These reports include information on satellite missions and data products relevant to each agency need, including commercial data evaluated by NASA’s CSDA program. Jenny Wood and John Troutman of Interagency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) compiled lists of the agencies recommended to use each commercial product and solution as well as statistics on the geographic domain, horizontal and temporal resolution, and latency needs of the agencies. This information was sent to the CSDA program to help inform their decision-making.

NASA is implementing over 20 solutions to meet Federal civilian agency satellite data needs expressed in the 2016, 2018, and 2020 SNWG surveys. The 2022 SNWG assessment finished on 6/1/23. As part of the assessment process, NASA-led tri-agency teams (with NOAA and USGS) wrote a report on each satellite need with information about available resources that help meet the need–including solutions from past SNWG cycles. After the reports were finalized, Wood and  Troutman developed updated stakeholder lists for each solution, including the agencies and subject matter experts within each agency that were recommended to benefit from each solution. Anita LeRoy distributed the updated stakeholder lists to the implementation lead for each solution. This step enables solution implementation teams to connect with Federal agency end users such that the stakeholders can be informed about the solution progress and receive the full benefits of the activities.
