Following a successful assembly and testing of the modular ALOFT instrument rack, MSFC researchers shipped the payload to AFRC in preparation for upload to the ER-2 aircraft. The Airborne Lightning Observatory for FEGS and TGFs (ALOFT) instrument suite measures lightning emission from radio frequency to gamma-rays and is preparing for a flight campaign (of the same name) to observe thunderstorms in the American tropics.
