On 5/5/23, Manil Maskey and Brian Freitag (ST11) of the Interagency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) team presented a live demonstration of the VEDA platform to the Science Mission Directorate’s Science Activation (SciAct) group – a program aiming to connect NASA science efforts with community leaders and educators. The demo introduced VEDA’s open-sourced dashboard exploration and data analysis capabilities, walking users through different engagement routes and features. This collaboration opportunity seemed natural as NASA’s SciAct program engages with an audience the VEDA also hopes to serve – students, citizen scientists, educators, and more. Future discussions and collaborations are expected between the two groups to continue propelling VEDA’s goals to support open science, engage users with NASA Earth science, and lower barriers to NASA data.
