Satellite Needs Working Group (SNWG) 2022 Proposed solutions Announced to Assessment Participants

For the last 6+ months, NASA has been leading the assessment of 115 satellite Earth observation data needs submitted through the 2022 SNWG survey. About 110 solutions–activities NASA, NOAA, or USGS could undertake to help meet agency needs–were proposed, and these solutions were down-selected through a process involving thematic area leadership, the SNWG science and applications board, and the ESD steering committee. Aaron Kaulfus, Brian Freitag, Deborah Smith, and Rahul Ramachandran (ST11) worked with prospective implementation teams to provide detailed cost estimates for down-selected solutions. Seven solutions will be proposed to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for funding at the conclusion of the SNWG-2022 assessment. These solutions were announced to the >100 NASA, USGS, and NOAA scientists who are evaluating SNWG agency needs. Iksha Gurung and Katrina Virts made information about the proposed solutions available in the Report Generation Tool (RGT) for reporting back to the SNWG agencies who would benefit from these activities.
