MSFC - Earth Science - Lightning Research team members hosted visitors from Sandia National Labs to perform integration of a Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) radiometer onto the Fly's Eye GLM Simulator (FEGS) instrument. The SWIR radiometer was built by Sandia with guidance by MSFC researchers to interface with the FEGS instrument, and to be flown during the 2023 Airborne Lightning Observatory for FEGS and TGFs (ALOFT) flight campaign to observe thunderstorms in the American tropics. MSFC researchers met with the Sandia visitors to discuss the collaboration and the potential for future partnerships.
