On 3/15/23, Pontus Olofsson gave an invited talk in the Expert Meeting on Accuracy Assessment and Comparison of Forest Disturbance Products and Algorithms at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. The talk, titled Sampling-based estimation of area and map accuracy, outlined recommended practices for how to estimate areas and map accuracy of land-cover change by design-based statistical inference. The European Commission is part of the executive branch of the European Union; the Joint Research Centre provides independent scientific advice and support to European Union policy.
