As of 11/9/22, the Software Release Authority made the final decision on the VEDA software release request to approve VEDA as an open-source project. An effective software release process guarantees that the software undergoes an export control review, an intellectual property review, and a commercialization assessment, as a part of NASA’s congressionally mandated technology transfer responsibility. This step in VEDA’s open-source initiative sets the tone for future efforts to create a collaborative, open environment for users. The project intends to continue open practices by opening GitHub repositories, code, and other features.
