NASA’s Science Mission Directorate periodically conducts Senior Reviews (SR) of operating missions (now on a 3-year cycle) to maximize the scientific return within the available resources. The Hinode Project recently received preliminary notice that it has been invited (along with several other operational missions) to the 2023 Heliophysics SR. The purpose of the SR is to assess our extended mission operations in the period of FY2024-FY2028. NASA will then use the results of this review to rebalance HPD mission allocations within their Operating Missions portfolio. The official Call for Proposals is still pending, but the Hinode Team will begin proposal planning efforts in the near-term. The Final Call for Proposals is expected to be released ~ June 15th, 2022 and the SR Proposals are expected due ~October 15th, 2022.
