The Astrophysics Division (APD) of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) convened a 2022 Senior Review Panel and facilitated a review panel “visit”, via Google Meet, with the Chandra X-ray Observatory mission, from April 5-7, 2022; Chandra is one of many extended operating missions under Senior Review. The NASA Science Mission Directorate, or SMD, conducts comparative reviews of operating missions within each science division to assess the scientific return from these missions. Chandra made multiple presentations and gave a “Day in the Life” virtual tour of the Chandra Operations Control Center, as well as, demonstrated Chandra Source Catalog 2.0 software tools. Informal debrief by the Panel to HQ and Chandra management was very positive and confirmed Chandra’s uniqueness and highly valuable scientific return.
