Rahul Ramachandran, Manil Maskey, Brian Freitag, Aaron Kaulfus (ST11) and Iksha Gurung (UAH) participated in FDL’s Big Think meeting on February 23rd and 24th. The goal of the meeting was to review and start the process of refining proposal ideas for the upcoming 2022 challenges with partners and subject matter experts. Each challenge event is held as an eight-week research sprint starting in June and ending in August. During this time, FDL participants are grouped into challenge teams which tackle scientific problems that could be solved or advanced by artificial intelligence (AI) tools and techniques. NASA sponsors an Earth science-focused challenge each year.
