IMPACT SMD Catalog team Presents at the Earth Science Data System (ESDS) Technology Spotlight and Open-Source Science Initiative Council

On February 28, Kaylin Bugbee (ST11), Ashish Achyara (UAH), Andrew Weis (UAH) and Stephen McNeal (UAH) of the Interagency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) SMD catalog team presented the latest progress on the project to the ESDS community. The presentation was entitled “Cognitive Search Capabilities to Accelerate Open Source Science”and focused on the use of Sinequa, a cognitive search engine, to enable data discovery for the SMD community. The ESDS technology spotlight typically reaches over 75 members of the ESDS community and is meant to foster information sharing about new technologies being leveraged across ESDS.

Kaylin Bugbee also gave a presentation to the Open-Source Science Initiative (OSSI) council on February 22. The OSSI council is made up of representatives from each of the five SMD divisions and provides guidance to various stakeholders participating in the OSSI. Bugbee presented the council with a number of requirements needed from the various SMD data archives in order to enable the SMD data discovery effort.
