SERVIR Participates at 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) and Releases ClimateSERV 2.0 Application

SERVIR held a side session, ‘Global Network Enables Climate Change Resilience by Connecting Space to Village’, as part of the US Center at COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, on 11/11/21. The session opened with recorded remarks by NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and was moderated by  Chihenyo Kangara (United States Agency for International Development (USAID) - East Africa Climate Change Specialist).

Gillian Caldwell (USAID Climate Change Coordinator) spoke in person at the event, and SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa, SERVIR-Mekong and SERVIR-Amazonia provided videos highlighting hub activities supporting climate change resilience.  SERVIR’s work was also noted by Administrator Nelson and USAID Administrator Samantha Power in the session ‘Our Climate Future is Female: Women and Girls Leading Climate Action’, which was held on 11/6/21 and featured SERVIR-Eastern & Southern Africa’s work supporting crop insurance for female farmers in Kenya, with additional investment by USAID.

SERVIR also drew on the opportunity of the COP26 conference to introduce ClimateSERV 2.0, SERVIR’s go-to source for geospatial data tailored to the climate research needs of applied scientists.
