In August 2021, a fusion between technology created by the Interagency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT), and a tool, owned by the Earth Science Data and Information Systems (ESDIS), proved to be successful as an initial version of pyQuARC was integrated into the Metadata Curation Dashboard’s SIT (test) environment. pyQuARC is a python library being developed by the Analysis and Review of the Common Metadata Repository (ARC) team out of IMPACT to automatically detect issues in CMR metadata. When completed, pyQuARC will be fully integrated into a tool called the CMR Metadata Curation Dashboard to assist the ARC team with conducting metadata quality assessments. These assessments identify areas of opportunity to improve metadata records which catalog and make searchable NASA’s collection of ~8,000+ Earth observation data products.
