The Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program Makes Data from Planet Labs, Inc. and Spire Global, Inc. Available to Broader Science Community

The CSDA Program was established with a broader goal of acquiring and making available to the NASA Earth science community commercial data that complement ongoing research and application goals. The CSDA data team at MSFC supports the management of these data after acquisition from vendors and has developed procedures and services to support the search, discovery, and distribution of commercial data. The CSDA Program has recently negotiated an uplift in end-user license agreements with Planet Labs, Inc. and Spire Global, Inc. to make the products purchased from these to vendors available to a broader science community. Data from Spire Global, Inc are now available not only to NASA funded investigators but any United States government employee or government-funded researcher while data from Planet is now open to United States Government Federal Civil agencies and the National Science Foundation. The use of these data from both vendors remains restricted to science use only.

Additional details on the data available, restrictions on use, and how to access these data can be found on the CSDA website: https://earthdata.nasa.gov/esds/csdap.
