NASA and NOAA’s National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) team members, including Rahul Ramachandran (Earth Science Branch), participated in the 2nd quarterly meeting between NOAA NESDIS and NASA SMD. Key stakeholders included Thomas Zurbuchen (Associate Administrator for SMD), Kevin Murphy (Executive Program Manager for the Earth Science Data Systems Program), and Irene Parker (Assistant Chief Information Officer for NOAA NESDIS) were briefed on the status and path forward for five collaboration efforts. Ramachandran is a co-leader for the metadata and cloud collaboration effort focused on addressing cloud architectures, data access, discovery challenges and common practices through the data life cycle in the cloud. The joint effort will also identify and explore future opportunities for collaboration through sharing of information, lessons learned, and future initiatives within NOAA and SMD.
