Harmonized Landsat Sentinel-2 (HLS) Team Meets with the European Space Agency (ESA) and ONDADIAS about Historical Data Access

The Interagency Implementation and Advanced Concepts Team (IMPACT) HLS team met with ESA and ONDA DIAS (Data and Information Access Service) to discuss access to historical Sentinel-2 data for HLS data processing. ONDA is a platform enabling users to host data and to build their applications in the Cloud. Data needs on the order of 11M files and 5.2 PB were presented to ONDA DIAS and the team at ESA, and ONDA DIAS is producing an agreement between IMPACT and ONDA DIAS to download the historical Sentinel-2 data over a 9-month period. The historical Sentinel-2 data will then be used to generate historical HLS products and additional products produced by NASA as outcomes of the Satellite Needs Working Group (SNWG) survey.
