Fred S. Wojtalik, 90, of Huntsville passed away 6/10/21, at his home in Huntsville. Fred had many accomplishments with NASA. Mr. Wojtalik transferred from Chrysler to NASA in the early 1960’s. In addition to serving as the Program Manager during the development and launch of the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, he served as the Program Manager for the High Energy Astronomical Observatory (HEAO) in the late 70’s and Program Manager for the Launch and On-Orbit Verification of the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) in 1990. Fred received numerous Presidential and NASA Awards, and was a member of Senior Executive Service. He retired from NASA in 1999. His contributions to MSFC and these flagship missions, as well as the careers of many of us still here today, cannot be overstated.
