NMLS Leadership Change

Heidi Haviland (ST13) takes over in the role of Principal Investigator (PI) for the Neutron Measurements at the Lunar Surface (NMLS) instrument. NMLS was originally selected as a part of the NASA Provided Lunar Payloads (NPLP) Program in 2019 to fly on the first Astrobotic Peregrine lander to the lunar surface this year as a part of the Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) program. NMLS was one of four NASA payloads remanifested from the lander due Pergrine’s engines underperforming. NMLS is currently awaiting a future CLPS ride to the lunar surface and opportunity to measure low energy neutrons. NMLS was initially led by Mark Christl (ST12) and most recently by Peter Bertone (EM41).
