SERVIR team members participated at the GFOI Plenary meeting that took place in Rome, Italy, 5/9-11/23. SERVIR Applied Sciences Team Principal Investigator Robert Kennedy presented at the side session organized by SilvaCarbon on Near-real Time Deforestation Alert Systems, about the work he is supporting in SERVIR Southeast Asia. Janet Nackoney and Evan Notman from USAID, and Africa Flores (ST11) from the SERVIR Science Coordination Office joined SilvaCarbon for an exhibition booth on 5/11/23, to showcase SERVIR’s and SilvaCarbon’s contributions to the forestry community and multiple satellite missions that will benefit the forestry community to monitor the health of forests worldwide, including the upcoming NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission and Landsat Next. SERVIR and SilvaCarbon have a long-lasting collaboration to support countries to meet their needs for improved land use information, enhance natural resource management, and foster scientific collaboration and data-driven decision-making.
