SERVIR Amazonia Closeout Ceremony for Trinidad and Tobago Training Series

On 4/27/23, SERVIR Amazonia held the closeout ceremony for the training series they carried out in Trinidad and Tobago. SERVIR Amazonia received USAID funding for two years to hold geospatial workshops in Caribbean countries, including Trinidad and Tobago. Each country had 12 workshops for specific applications of geospatial data with increasing levels of difficulty, which were determined by needs assessments completed in the first year of the grant period. The demand-driven training plan for Trinidad and Tobago was designed to increase the capacities of local agencies to develop programs and share data related to mangrove monitoring and hydrological events. The trainings were held for members of the Caribbean Meteorological Organization as well as various other ministries, including the Institute of Marine Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, the Ministry of Works and Transport Coastal Protection Unit, the Environmental Management Authority, the Coastal Zone Management Unit, the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management, The University of the West Indies, Tobago Emergency Management Agency, and the Water Resource Agency. At the end of the closeout ceremony, trainees presented their proposed products and services based on the knowledge they gained throughout the workshops. The US Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago, Candace Bond, was present at the certificate ceremony.
