SERVIR and USAID Launch Gender Analysis Tool

On 2/15/23, SERVIR and USAID held a virtual launch event to introduce the new, customized Gender Analysis Tool. This tool is the product of several years of co-development between Advancing Gender in the Environment (AGENT), which is a collaboration between USAID and the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and SERVIR, and is a valuable asset for our network as we cast a gender lens on our services and activities. A gender analysis is a framework required by many donor organizations that explores gendered power dynamics, opportunities, and constraints, all of which impact and provide a foundation for any activity or initiative. Unlike most gender analysis frameworks, however, the SERVIR Gender Analysis tool includes an environmental dimension and is built specifically for geospatial uses and services. It will be an important part of our SERVIR Service Planning approach, helping to inform recommendations for service design with an eye toward gender equity and social inclusion.
