Paper Published in Earth and Space Science

IMPACT researchers (Iksha Gurung, Muthukumaran Ramasubhramanian, Brian Freitag, Aaron Kaulfus, Manil Maskey, and Rahul Ramachandran) authored a journal article entitled “Tropical Cyclone Wind Speed Estimation: A Large Scale Training Data Set and Community Benchmarking,” which was published in the American Geophysical Union Earth and Space Science journal. The article describes the creation of a large-scale machine learning dataset for estimating tropical cyclone intensity, as well as a framework for benchmarking machine learning models through community challenges. The paper is available at https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2022EA002693.
