NASA SPoRT Stakeholder Summit and Seminar Series – Dust Tracking and Lightning Safety

NASA SPoRT held its second virtual Stakeholder Summit featuring Dust Tracking & Lightning Safety products on 3/2/23. This summit featured an overview and live demonstration of SPoRT’s DustTracker-AI product and Geostationary Lightning Mapper Stoplight product. The goal is to educate new and current stakeholders on SPoRT’s products and how it can aid in operational forecasting decision-making. This is also a prime opportunity to recruit stakeholders to participate in future assessments of the products and allow stakeholders to provide feedback on the product during the breakout sessions of the Stakeholder Summit event. SPoRT team members presented an update on the SPoRT projects (Chris Hain), then hosted two breakout sessions featuring an overview and live demonstration of SPoRT’s DustTracker-AI product (Emily Berndt) and GLM Stoplight product (Kelley Murphy). Over 40 attends participated from government organizations, universities, the private sector. The event was planned and facilitated by the SPoRT End User Engagement Team and led by Elizabeth Junod (UAH) and Ryan Wade (UAH) with SPoRT students assisting each breakout session. The scope of attendees across the Dust Tracking and Lightning Safety area and their feedback will continue to focus SPoRT on developing user-driven products and capabilities through their proven research-to-operations/operations-to-research paradigm.
