Recent South/Southeast Asia Research Initiative (SARI) Activities Led by Marshall Scientist

Marshall Earth Scientist, Krishna Vadrevu, recently led SARI Activities in Vietnam and Cambodia. These activities were funded under the NASA Land Cover/Land Use Change Program.

The International Meeting on Air Pollution in Asia - Inventories, Monitoring and Migration was held in Hanoi, Vietnam on February 1-3rd, 2023. The Vietnam National Space Agency and the Vietnam National University of Engineering and Technology served as local hosts. U.S. Ambassador, Marc Knapper, attended the inaugural event and talked about some of the region's Air Pollution and environmental issues. There were 75 participants in total from 13 different countries and Vadrevu will lead a special issue of peer-reviewed journal articles.

A training workshop on the Fundamentals of Remote Sensing and Applications was held at the Royal University of Agriculture in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on February 8-10th, 2023. 65 participants from South/Southeast Asia attended the training. These interactive training sessions involved theoretical lectures and hands-on tutorials using open-source software. Participation certificates were distributed to the candidates after the training.
