Gondola Control Computer (MSFC) and Power System (UAH) Delivered to the EUSO-SP20 Project and Completed Benchtop Testing

A combined system incorporating the Gondola Control Computer (GCC) and Power System (PS) were delivered to the EUSO-SPB2 project for a future balloon flight. The combined GCC and PS were transported to Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO. A weeklong effort was completed that integrated three science instruments with the GCC/PS.

BenchTop testing verified communications and power distribution between the GCC/PS and the science instruments. A two-day long mission simulation was competed to insure the readiness of the GCC/PS for the planned 100-day balloon flight. The GCC/PS hardware and software are ready for a balloon flight. A final payload integration is planned for September 2022, followed by the balloon equipment integration in Oct 2022 and a possible flight from New Zealand in March 2023.
