The Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program Data Team Releases new Version of the Smallsat Data Explorer

On July 23rd, the CSDA Program data team, led by Aaron Kaulfus (ST11), released an updated version of the Smallsat Data Explorer (SDX). The SDX is a centralized search, discovery, and download interface supporting commercial data acquired by NASA under the CSDA Program. The major enhancement released with this version of the SDX is an interactive heatmap feature to improve the end user search and discovery experience for the disparate data provided through the interface.

By default, users are able to identify the overall spatial extent of data products selected through a tiling layer. Using an interactive histogram, users are able to rapidly change the temporal aggregation of their search as well. Upon narrowing down searches using these features, users are able to quickly generate results and downloads as has traditionally been provided through the SDX. We expect this feature will greatly improve the ability for users to discover commercial data available through the CSDA Program. The SDX is available at the following link: https://csdap.earthdata.nasa.gov .
