Marshall Participation in Student “Space Nights”

Mitzi Adams (ST13) participated in a Parent Teacher Association sponsored Space Night at Horizon Elementary in Madison, AL on 5/9/22.  Alongside an American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) sponsored table, Adams handed out information on the 2023 and 2024 eclipses, 3-D printed eclipse “maps” that can be used as a pinhole projector, NASA stickers, and various other NASA produced outreach materials.

Adams, Dennis Gallagher (ST13) and Naveen Vetcha (Centennial Challenges Program Office) participated in a Parent Teacher Association sponsored Space Night at the Academy for Science and Foreign Language (ASFL) on 5/12/22.  Adams and Gallagher handed out information on the 2023 and 2024 eclipses, 3-D printed eclipse “maps” that can be used as a pinhole projector, NASA stickers, and various other NASA produced outreach materials, while Vetcha, using a telescope, showed the Sun and sunspots to students and parents.  Adams also narrated the different types of meteorites contained in the Von Braun Astronomical Society’s collection, allowing students to handle “rocks from space”.
