Annual Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (LPSC) Participation

Paul Bremner, Jack Conrad, Caleb Fassett, Heidi Haviland, Doug Rickman, Renee Weber, and Michael Zanetti participated in the annual LPSC meeting. LPSC is focused on the presentation of recent planetary science research and exploration efforts and was held March 7 - 13, 2022 as a hybrid in person and virtual conference.

Bremner and Zanetti presented four posters relating to the Kinematic Navigation and Cartography Knapsack (KNaCK), novel algorithm development, and recent KNaCK field campaigns. Their poster included a live demonstration of the backpack lidar.

Haviland contributed to the CLPS Deliveries summary poster lead by Paul Niles.

Doug Rickman provided a poster related to the development of new lunar highlands simulants.

Jack Conrad presented both a poster and a talk about impact cratering on Mercury and Mars respectively.

Renee Weber co-chaired the session, “Apollo’s Legacy for Lunar and Planetary Science: from lunar sample analysis to solar system studies” on Wednesday afternoon and gave a talk “NASA HLS: Enabling the Next Generation of Lunar Science,” and “To the Moon we go / We’re going to do science / Come find out how much”.

Caleb Fassett presented a virtual poster, “Age Estimates for Permanently Shadowed Craters in the Viper Mission Area Based on Their Topography”, The large P-S-Rs / Where VIPER will go to rove /Are degraded and old.
