Heidi Haviland (ST13) contributed the chapter, “The changing lunar surface environment: hazards and resources” for the book, “The Human Factor in the Settlement of Luna: An Interdisciplinary Approach”, edited by Margaret Boone Rappaport and Konrad Szocik. This book has been published. This chapter provides a top-level summary of the dynamic coupled processes at the lunar science including dust, atmosphere, and plasma. Lastly, there is a discussion on hazards and renewable resources that could help a future human settlement on the lunar surface.
