SERVIR Applied Science Team Selected for Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program Pilot Project

MSFC Team members of the SERVIR Applied Science Team entitled “A Cloud Computing Toolbox for SAR-based Monitoring of the Hydrologic Cycle in the SERVIR Hindu-Kush Himalayan Region” have been invited to participate in NASA’s Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program next pilot project led by PI Franz Meyer at the Alaska Satellite Facility, Fairbanks AK. This pilot project will look to evaluate the utility of X-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data from a new commercial vendor to complement on-going work in the Hindu-Kush Himalayan region focusing where high-resolution information can complement flood detection techniques in the region’s challenging terrain and dense population areas.
