Inter-Agency Implementation and Advanced Concepts (IMPACT) Team members, Rahul Ramachandran and Kaylin Bugbee (ST11), in collaboration with Kevin Murphy (NASA HQ), co-authored a journal article entitled “From Open Data to Open Science”, which was published in AGU Earth and Space Science on 4/29/21. The article provides a summary of the drivers behind open science and an overview of the current state of various open science activities across the community. The paper also describes specific actions, such as developing technologically innovative data systems and evolving data stewardship practices that data programs like NASA’s Earth Science Data System (ESDS) can take to make the open science paradigm shift reality.
