Energy and Water Reports and Reviews

Energy and Water Function Review

  1. In April, 2023, personnel from NASA Headquarters and support contractors visited MAF for an Energy and Water Function Review.  This review occurs every three years and is used to evaluate the energy and water conservation program's strengths and weaknesses.

Building Energy Evaluation Reports

UESC Assessment results as below.

  • Boiler Plant Improvements – This ECM will optimize Building 207 boiler plant by installing a new boiler and associated equipment, meters, etc. Replace one abandoned boiler with a new unit, and right-size the stack economizer and deaerator for the current load
  • Steam System Improvements – This ECM will identify and replace failed steam traps, install piping insulation, and replace failed condensate receivers.
  • Chiller Plant Building 207 Improvements – This ECM will improve the chilled water (CHW) plant by optimizing the condenser water system, installing variable frequency drives (VFDs) on condenser pumps, and modifying the associated controls.
  • Chiller Plant Improvements – Other Buildings – This ECM will install VFD controls and motor for existing chilled water booster pump in Building 220.
  • Lighting Upgrades – This ECM will upgrade the lighting to LED technology, install occupancy sensors, and enhance lighting controls where applicable.
